Golden Eagle Shows Off Crazy Strength as It Flies Away with a Fox

Frederick Soddy once said, “Nature is in an austere mood, even terrifying, withal majestically beautiful.” This seems like the aptest description possible for watching a Golden Eagle do its thing. YouTube user, Koki, captured an incredible video of the majestic bird flying away with a fox in its grasp.

According to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, a Golden Eagle can weigh anywhere between 6.5 pounds to 13.5 pounds. Its wingspan can reach an incredible distance of 86.6 inches as well. On the other hand, though, a Red Fox can weigh up to 24 pounds. That can be nearly twice the weight of the big bird of prey if not more.

During the video, the Golden Eagle stands on top of the fox with fur scattered all around the ground. The wind is howling around two animals. Trees are bending almost in half. The eagle clasps the fox in its talons and takes off.

Even though it doesn’t look like an effortless flight, you can probably blame that on the wind. Golden Eagles have been known to take down animals far bigger than foxes. In fact, they have even been known to take down deer and fly away with it in tow after gorging themselves.

So, given that fact, it isn’t all that crazy to see this bird of prey carrying away a big fox in its talons. That being said, though, it doesn’t diminish how insane this video is. A word of caution before you watch this video, it contains some graphic content that may be sensitive to some viewers.

The fox is already dead when the camera starts rolling. Perhaps that is for the best, as the kill was probably intense. Nonetheless, the video is absolutely crazy. This Golden Eagle Video Is Not the Craziest Thing That You’ll Ever See Thankfully, seeing a Golden Eagle attack a person is exceedingly rare. In fact, there are no documented cases of that happening. Grizzly bears, on the other hand, are a different story.

A man in Alaska had a harrowing story to tell about a brown bear attack recently. He was doing a land survey and ended up in the hospital. Allen Minish, was alone when he ran into a brown bear. The encounter almost left him without his life. Thankfully, the mauling was not fatal. Even though it lasted only 10 seconds, it was terrifying. Yet another example of Frederick Soddy’s words.

Minish startled the bear, and it attacked. As a result of the attack, the man’s jaw was crushed, and he had several puncture wounds in his head. It took more than four hours of surgery to fix Minish’s injuries. In contrast, the Golden Eagle’s fox won’t ever have that luck.

I saw him, and he saw me at the same time, and it’s scary, Minish told 104.5 WokV. He explained how he tried to use his surveying pole to protect himself. As he lunged up on top of me, I grabbed his lower jaw to pull him away. But he tossed me aside there, grabbed a quarter of my face. He took a small bite, and then he took a second bite, and the second bite is the one that broke the bones … and crushed my right cheek basically.
